John has worked with Indigenous communities and organisations in the Simpson Desert, N.T and The Kimberley Region of W.A, was a director and owner of a tourist resort on Fraser Island and the CEO of a not-for-profit community organisation in Brisbane. John has extensive experience in Mental Health, Disability, Youth, Aged Care and Nursing sectors, has established community gymnasiums and health centres, operated a functional and rehabilitation business, and worked with fitness students at TAFE. John has been a keynote speaker at national conferences and is a qualified counsellor, working with people from all sections of the community including politicians, CEOs, and young people.

John has written books and won a range of business awards including the Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year. John has a passion for directing and producing docos, with several of his social justice films being screened on the ABC and SBS Networks. Through this work John has won an Inside Film (IF Award) for his "Unlikely Travellers" doco and Winner of Best Documentary in the New York Film festival for his film on Suicide in Indigenous communities: "9 in 10" Loss and Suicide in Aboriginal Australia.

In addition to extensive business and life experience, John's qualifications include Masters in Mental Health/Disability, Grad Cert in Disability Education-Rehab, Diplomas in Nursing, Community Services, Counselling, Exercise Science (Fitness & Recreation), Sport and Business-Frontline Management. He also has Cert 4s in Training and Assessment and Allied Health (Physio-rehab).
